Chiloe – Tierra Chiloe Hotel & Spa

Situated where land meets sea on the picturesque island of Chiloe in northern Patagonia, Tierra Chiloe Hotel & Spa is an exclusive luxury retreat where guests can discover the Chiloe Archipelago’s cultural and natural wonders. Its cutting-edge geometric architecture might appear contemporary but it actually draws inspiration from traditional local houses, which are clad in wooden shingles and built on stilts over the ocean.

Inside Tierra Chiloe Hotel & Spa, there are 24 guestrooms that cleverly blend traditional Chiloe craftsmanship and modern design. Simple so as not to detract from the beautiful views outside, each one comes with indulgent bath amenities, plush robes and slippers. Other luxuries at this hotel include access to a well-equipped day spa, complete with 8-person hot tub, sauna and steam room.

As with all hotels in the Tierra portfolio, Tierra Chiloe’s tariffs include excursions and delectable meals imbued with the culinary spirit of this wild, remote region. Excursions you can experience include cruises aboard the lodge’s own private boat, hiking, horseback riding and cultural visits to historic towns and villages filled with charming craft workshops and UNESCO World Heritage Sites.

Patagonia Tours Overview

Why Patagonia: Located in Argentina and Chile, Patagonia is a natural wonderland of dramatic mountains, giant glaciers, cascading waterfalls, secluded lakes and beech forests. It is also an area rich in wildlife including seals, humpback whales, pumas, condors and guanacos.

When to Go: Summer (Nov – Mar) is the best time to visit Patagonia when the weather is at its mildest and daylight hours are at their longest (18 hours). Bear in mind however, that this is also the windiest and busiest time of year. Winter provides clearer views, stiller conditions and fewer tourists; however temperatures can be extremely cold. Torres del Paine National Park is open all year round.

Combine With: Combine Patagonia with a more in-depth trip through the rest of Chile or Argentina. Alternatively, visit neighbouring Brazil or head further north into Bolivia or Peru.

Getting There: From Santiago, there are short flights to Punta Arenas, Puerto Montt, Balmaceda or Temuco, whilst from Buenos Aires you can fly into El Calafate or Ushuaia in the south or San Carlos de Bariloche in the north.
