Jaipur – Samode Haveli

Built almost two centuries ago by a noble family whose descendents still reside on the property, Samode Haveli is a unique boutique hotel tucked within the historic walled ‘Pink City’ of Jaipur. A veritable oasis of peaceful luxury, this traditional Indian mansion is surrounded by bustling bazaars, ancient temples and a maze of crooked laneways that lead to Jaipur’s best-known historic sites.

The former royal apartments at Samode Haveli have been converted with great care into 39 guest rooms and suites, whose distinctive interiors pay tribute to the rich history and culture of the city. Expect intricate frescoes, beautifully carved beds and elaborate chandeliers alongside indulgent modern amenities such as rain showers and air-conditioning.

A sparkling Moorish-style pool and adjoining wading pool sit surrounded by inviting sun loungers, while there is also a Jacuzzi, fitness centre and steam room for rejuvenation. At Samode Haveli, dining is an important part of the experience; enjoy icy poolside cocktails, classic afternoon tea in the lounge or a sumptuous Rajasthani banquet whilst relaxing on cushioned daybeds strewn with large, plush bolsters.

Rajasthan and North India Overview

Why Rajasthan & North India: This is one of the most visited and famous areas of India, renowned for its dramatic history, romantic desert cities, ancient and mysterious temples, massive hilltop forts and colourful desert peoples, as well as the most beautiful building in the world, the Taj Majal.

When to Go: The best time to visit Rajasthan is October to mid April. Clear blue skies and a moderate to slightly chilly temperature (particularly Dec – Jan) make these months the perfect time to visit. From mid April to mid June it becomes very hot followed by the onset of monsoon rain. The monsoon continues until early August. August and September are warm to occasionally hot in the day with cool evenings.

Combine With: The vibrant city of Varanasi situated on the banks of the holy Ganges River and the temples of Khajuraho with their exquisite carvings and erotic sculptures.

Getting There: Fly into Delhi and then travel by air, road or rail to cities such as Jaipur, Jodhpur, Agra or Varanasi .
