Wings over Kenya

Maximise the time that you spend exploring Kenya’s beautiful game parks on our Wings Over Kenya safari, flying into wilderness areas to experience the authentic safaris of old. The following is a sample itinerary which combines Kenya’s two most popular parks – the arid Samburu and the iconic Masai Mara. However this tour can be tailored to visit more than just these two parks and for any duration using a combination of air and/or road transport. You can also choose from a range of excellent lodges and camps, all which operate their own game activities.

For a more exclusive experience, we can arrange private game drives in your own vehicle with one of Origin’s own professional guides. Transport on safari is by custom-built 4WD vehicle, specially designed for gameviewing and photography.

Kenya Overview

Why should I travel to Kenya?
Since the early 19th century, Kenya has captivated visitors with its astounding quantity and diversity of wildlife as well as with its majestic scenery. The country has well-established tourist infrastructure and a good standard of accommodation.

When is the best time to see wildlife in Kenya?
Excellent gameviewing year round. Jul-Sep is popular when the wildebeest migration is in the Masai Mara.

What is the culture of Kenya?
Maasai and Samburu pastoralists who continue their traditional way of life.

What is the climate in Kenya?
Temperate climate (22°- 25°C) due to high altitude but hot in low-lying areas like the Rift Valley (30°- 35°C). Hot and humid along the coast. “Long rains” take place in Apr/May, whilst “short rains” occur in mid-Oct to mid-Dec.

What can I combine Kenya with?
Tanzania, which is situated on Kenya’s southern border and is easily reached by road or air from Nairobi. Mt Kilimanjaro straddles the two countries and Kenya’s Masai Mara is part of Tanzania’s Serengeti ecosystem, the arena for the wildebeest migration.

How to get to Kenya?
The gateway to Kenya is Nairobi’s Jomo Kenyatta International Airport. Nairobi is linked by daily air services from Australia via the UAE or Qatar in the Middle East or via Johannesburg in South Africa.
