Nepal

The mountain kingdom of Nepal is culturally rich and extraordinarily beautiful. Nepal has 8 of the world’s 14 highest mountains, yet down on the plains are jungles where tigers and rhino roam. Kathmandu itself and the towns of the Kathmandu valley are living museums of ancient palaces, squares, temples and shrines. Hinduism and Buddhism are the two main religions and an important part of the lives and culture of the people.

Highlights of Nepal include:
• Game viewing by jeep or elephant in Royal Chitwan N.P.
• Mediaeval art and architecture of Bhaktapur
• Cultural museum of Kathmandu
• Palaces and temples of the Kathmandu Valley

When to Go
Nepal has two seasons - the dry season from Oct - May and the rainy, monsoon season from Jun - Sep. Early spring (Mar - Apr) and late autumn (Oct - Nov) are the best times to visit, and also offer the clearest mountain views and good weather for trekking. From Dec - Feb there is snow on the mountains with freezing temperatures at high altitudes, while the summer months of Jun - Aug can be very hot for general travel.
