A jewel in the heart of the Indian Ocean, the tropical island paradise of Mauritius is both an exotic holiday destination and an ideal stopover enroute to Africa. Dramatic volcanic peaks rise high above its centre, whilst most of the spectacular coastline is protected by a coral reef. Unspolied white snady beaches give way to a warm turquoise sea.
Highlights of Mauritius include:
• Idyllic resorts
• Secluded sandy beaches
• Coral protected sea lagoons
• Golf, tennis and other sporting facilities
• Spectacular mountainous landscape
Culture
Mauritius is a fascinating mix of peoples and cultures: the creoles and Franco Mauritians are decended from African and European settlers. Indians rub shoulders with Chinese, and temples and pagodas stand beside christian churches.
